Housing Economics for Non-Economists Lecture Series

Cost: $250 (for 4 lectures; individual lecture tickets are not available)

These lectures are a critical tool for anyone seeking to understand the key economic issues shaping housing.

Held over four Monday afternoons in February/March 2018, attendees will hear from prominent academics on a range of important topics.

The series agenda is as follows:

Lecture 1: Dr Ben Spies-Butcher, Department of Sociology, Macquarie University on the political economy of housing (19 February 4.00pm–6.00pm)

Lecture 2: Professor Peter Phibbs, Architecture, Design and Planning, University of Sydney on property economics and planning (26 February, 4.00pm–6.00pm)

Lecture 3: Professor Rick Krever, Taxation Law and Policy Research Centre, Monash University on housing and the taxation system (5 March, 4.00pm–6.00pm)

Lecture 4: Professor Nicole Gurran, Faculty Architecture, Design and Planning, University of Sydney on housing affordability and supply (12 March, 4.00pm–6.00pm)

Lectures are approximately one hour, and the second hour is for questions and answers.

Who should attend?

Anyone with an interest in housing will find the series beneficial including housing providers, tenants, advocates, not-for-profit sector workers, welfare sector, state government and local government employees, political party members, those in planning agencies, and students.
