wesley mission logoThe first stage of the Wesley Mission suicide prevention model focuses upon educating people about suicide, challenging attitudes and teaching basic engagement skills. These take the form of Community training and Workplace training.

They also offer healthcare professionals training to help meet the needs of the community and have developed tailored suicide prevention training programs for:

  • aged care nurses
  • aged care workers
  • GP practice staff
  • general practitioners
  • GP nurses
  • relationship counsellors.

These programs are designed to equip healthcare professionals with the skills to identify someone who may be at risk of suicide and provide the appropriate actions to take to assist them. The programs are regularly reviewed by their national advisory board, consisting of leading Australian researchers and practitioners in the suicide prevention and mental health fields.

Services include courses to promote mental health in the workplace and financial literacy training.
