Community Support Advocate - Full & Part Time

Essential

  • Understanding, willingness and ability to act as an advocate for SEE Clients
  • Minimum Certificate 3 in Disability Work
  • Minimum (2) two years’ experience working with people with disabilities
  • Experience working with people with disabilities with complex communication needs
  • To be able to fulfil the physical requirements of assisting people with multiple disabilities
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold a current manual driver’s licence
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate
  • Hold a current Criminal Record or Police Check
  • Hold a current Working with Children Check
  • Augmented Communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Familiarity with mobility equipment
  • Be familiar with and be willing to work within related federal and state governments’ legislation and guidelines on:
    • Human Rights & Equal Employment Opportunity

Traineeship - Community Support Advocate

Essential

  • Proven work history (or, school leavers are encouraged to apply and would need to demonstrate an ability to apply themselves)
  • Willingness to successfully complete Certificate 4 – Disability Work, including attainment of a First Aid Certificate, 
  • Provide a current Police Check & Working with Children Check
  • Willingness and ability to act as an advocate for SEE Foundation Clients 
  • To be able to fulfil the physical requirements of assisting people with multiple disabilities
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Computer literate
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to gain an understanding of relevant legislation
  • Current drivers licence
  • To commit to work with SEE Foundation Staff to gain knowledge and understanding of the role of a Community Support Advocate and to gain the skills to:
    • Support Clients to access services within the community
    • Assist with physical requirements of Clients
    • Support Clients to actively participate in the service programme
    • Maximise the personal and social skills of Clients
    • Support Clients to achieve their individual needs and goals
    • Represent the SEE Foundation positively at all times
    • Work in a healthy & safe manner
  • Willingness to become familiar with SEE Foundation Policies and Procedures
  • Two work related referees

Desirable

  • Experience working with people with disabilities
  • Experience working with people with disabilities who have challenging behaviours
  • Augmented communication skills
  • Familiarity with mobility equipment

Salary is S.A.C.S. Grade 1. Salary Package is available after completion of Probationary Period.
