Hours, Days and Location: 24 hours per week. Must be available to work from Leep’s office in Penrith, with the flexibility to travel as required.

The Role 

We are seeking an energetic, proactive Senior Project Officer with the drive and confidence to engage with local volunteer-involving organisations, foster relationships in order to build a true understanding of the training needs of volunteers and volunteer managers in the region, and develop and deliver engaging training.

The position is based at Leep NGO’s office in Penrith.

The position is 24 hours a week, and is contracted until 30 June 2019 but may be extended depending on funding.

About You

This role would suit a confident, enthusiastic person with a real passion for volunteerism, experience developing and delivering training, and the spark to go out and build relationships with volunteer-involving organisations to ensure the training needs of the sector are being met.

Required skills, knowledge and qualifications for the role include: 


  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to engage and connect both verbally and through written forms;
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training and facilitating groups
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement 
  • High level organisational skills
  • Experience collecting, managing and analysing data
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to form trusting relationships


  • Comprehensive understanding of volunteerism and digital inclusion
  • An understanding and commitment to the principles and practice of access and equity
  • Comprehensive understanding of Work Health & Safety


  • Degree with experience in community development OR relevant experience in an associated field
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent to 3 years training experience 


  • A current NSW Drivers Licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle to use for work purposes

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Understanding of volunteer recruitment, management, training, retention and acknowledgement.
  • Graphic design skills
  • Experience using CRM software or programs
