Parramatta Female Factory Precinct Association Inc a small, not-for-profit contemporary art and social history cultural organisation that works to raise awareness about the history, experience and legacy of institutionalisation in a child welfare or mental health facility in Australia. We bring together communities, artists, researchers and people who experienced institutionalisation in an environment of exchange, investigation and interpretation to foster understanding, promote reconciliation and to activate Australia’s first Site of Conscience. We operate a small gallery/interpretation space and print studio and maintain a support network and contact register for former occupants of Parramatta Girls Home and associated institutions.

Are you the one we're looking for? We are seeking a motivated, experienced Communications and Administration Officer to assist the Project Director in a role that interfaces with audiences, artists, researchers and stakeholders. The position requires skills and experience in office administration, marketing communications, grant preparation, exhibitions and events. This is a really varied position that will suit someone who can multi-task and prioritise effectively, and who is looking for flexible work practices and professional development opportunities in the community, cultural, social justice sector.

Essential Criteria

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in graphic design (Photoshop) and email distribution (Mailchimp).
  • Experience in general office administration including filing, database management, correspondence and record keeping.
  • Experience in social media marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and excellent written skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Commitment to the support and promotion of contemporary art, social history and human rights.
