Following the release of the revised Code of Ethics earlier this year, the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA) has now published new practice guidelines for community and human services workers. Eight guidelines make up the framework for practice and the indicators in the document will help readers identify when the competency has been adequately reached.

ACWA has also developed an accompanying self-assessment tool designed to help practitioners identify their skill gaps and training needs. It is equally important that service providers review the Code and Guidelines to ensure their policies do not direct workers to act in conflict with the professional framework.
