Indian parents with kids

The Love, Talk, Sing, Read, Play updated app is now available in Arabic, Bengali, Chinese and Nepali. It gives parents tips on how to engage with their children from birth to six years and enables parents to click on the relevant age group and read about development of their child at that stage.

Parents can also read ideas on how to talk, read, sing and play with their child as well as personalise the information by adding their own children’s names.

The phone resource has a lot of useful features where parents can get messages in the Arabic, Bengali, Chinese and Nepali languages. They can create a memory book for their child, be sent reminders on immunisations and blue book checks and even add local contacts to the handy list of child and family services.

This app has been developed as a Families NSW project in partnership between South Western Sydney Local Health District, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, Sydney Local Health District, Families NSW St George Child and Family Interagency and Resourcing Parents.

The app is available to download for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Another new resource developed for the Arabic, Bengali, Chinese and Nepali speaking communities is the new social media video produced by the St George Child and Family Interagency and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Paediatric Speech Pathology Service entitled "Helping my child learn two languages”.

The video developed in 5 languages including Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Nepali and English was produced in response to the findings from the 2012 and 2015 Australian Early Development Census which identified that there was a need to promote consistent key messages to service providers and families to improve language and communication development in bilingual children prior to school.
