Road sign that says 'Occupational Therapy'

Occupational Therapy students at Western Sydney University will be participating in project based professional practice placements in 2018. If your organisation has a project idea that could benefit from the involvement of occupational therapy students, the University would love to hear from you.

Past student projects include:

  • Evidence-based resources or literature reviews on an emerging area of practice
  • Community resources or activities guides for residents living in group homes or residential aged care
  • Video resources for children with autism
  • Sensory resource kits for schools and child care centres
  • Fact sheets/brochures for clients and carers
  • Planning and delivering workshops, professional development activities and presentations
  • Home modification and equipment resources

Projects would need to be able to be completed within 75 hours per student between 19 March and 25 May 2018 and are usually completed in pairs. The 75 hours can include a mix of on-site work and self-directed work completed by the students, depending on the needs of the specific project. Specific attendance requirements will be negotiated between the supervisor and student, keeping in mind the students will also have university timetable commitments during this period.

If you are interested in having students undertake a project at your site, complete the project brief form and forward it to Nicole Sharp at Western Sydney University. If you would like more information or to discuss a project idea, please contact Nicole.
