The City of Parramatta’s Australia Day Local Awards recognise outstanding achievement and excellence in the local community and highlight the importance of service to the Australian nation. Being nominated for an Australian Day Local Award is a great honour and the awards therefore offer a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to someone who makes you proud to be an Australian.

All residents are invited to nominate a member of the community whose exemplary contribution is deserving of recognition. This could be a friend, family member, workmate or someone you have met while serving the community.

Categories this year are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Arts and Cultural Award
  • Sports Achievement Award
  • Community Group Award


  • Nominees must be a resident of the City of Parramatta and/or have contributed significantly to the City of Parramatta community
  • Awards will not be granted posthumously
  • Sitting local, state and federal politicians are not eligible
  • No weight is given to the number of times a person is nominated

Please ensure that your application is supported with:

  • A minimum 200 word submission outlining the nominee’s background, achievements and reasons for nomination by addressing a selection criteria outlined
  • A maximum of 5 A4 supporting pages will be accepted including the nomination form. Character reference contact details (maximum 2) and supporting photographs are preferred.
