The Drop In Centre - Out Of Home Care Group at High Street Youth Health service is a joint initiative run by FACS and WSLHD Youth Health. This group is a drop-in style, social and support service for young people aged 16-18 years of age that are leaving Statutory Out Of Home Care and 18-24 years old who have left care and require assistance and a social safe space. 

This service includes:

  • “Wrap it up” is a program where young people have the opportunity to create weighted blankets through the skill of quilting that will eventually be donated for the use as a sensory blanket. All equipment and resources are provided.
  • During term time and according to a planned calendar of activities High Street Youth Health Service will also provide young people with the opportunity to be involved in Health Education Programs through the drop in time, 3.00pm-4.00pm. The topics being delivered are Alcohol and Other Drugs, Sexual Health, Mental Health and Accessing services to increase young people’s awareness, educate and engage young people in issues concerning their health. This activity is also optional.
  • Any appropriate young people can access a health worker and a FACS worker for support and guidance. The service can provide Health Planning, Health Education, Leaving Care Planning, support with transition to independent living and Left Care assistance. Young people can access information about Healthy Relationships, Counselling, Anger-Management, Nursing Assessments and any other health concerns. 
  • Young people can drop in to chill out, play pool, use the computers or chat to one of the workers for support.
