So: Spaced Out is an educational resource designed by Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District for young people 13 years and above. It provides participants with an opportunity to learn about aspects of the interaction between particular substances and psychosis as well as depression and anxiety.

The game involves deciding what has happened to a character in different scenarios by moving around a game board and collecting and interpreting information related to family, social and biological factors.

At the end of the game students should be able to identify and/or have a better understanding of the:

  • Relationship between drug use and mental health
  • Risk associated with drug use
  • Factors which protect people from using drugs
  • Impact and consequences of using drugs
