Fairfield City Museum & Gallery will be offering a range of group activities in the coming months. The activities include a social knitting group, a talk on youth fashion, the annual One Night at the Museum event, vintage markets, a painting workshop and Halloween event.

Spin a Yarn: Social Knitting Group
Saturdays until 2 September 2017, 1.00pm–3.00pm
Cost: Free
Drop in on Saturdays until 2 September to meet, mingle and swap yarns with other fellow knitters. Get cosy comparing patterns, sharing techniques, trading tips and knitting innovative projects. Beginner, intermediate and advanced knitters of all ages and abilities welcome.

History Week Talk – Punk: So What's New?
5 September 2017, 6.00pm–7.30pm
Cost: Free
To celebrate History Week, join Fiona Reilly, Head of Costume at National Institute of Dramatic Arts and specialist in historical set and costume design, for a historical talk on youth cultural fashion influences. Light refreshments provided.

One Night at the Museum: POP! 
8 September 2017, 5.30pm–8.00pm
Cost: Free
One Night at the Museum is an annual event that invites visitors to experience contemporary art at twilight with an exciting twist. This year’s theme POP! explores themes of identity, popular culture, fashion, design and photography. Bookings are essential.

Vintage Village Markets

Cost: Free
‘Trash or Treasure’ markets return this spring and there’s something for everyone!

Still-Life Painting Workshop
14 October 2017, 10.00am–1.00pm
Cost: $25 per person
Become immersed in the intricate and colourful world of acrylic painting and create your own still-life masterpiece. Participants will be guided through tips and demonstrations from exhibiting artist Loribelle Spirovski to gain confidence or improve in their approach to acrylic painting processes and practices. Beginners are welcome and more experienced painters will find this course refreshing, with plenty of new challenges.

Halloween at the Museum
31 October 2017, 5.00pm–7.00pm
Spend Halloween trick-or-treating through a spooky Vintage Village! Featuring games, activities, face painting, craft and ghoulish story-time. Remember to bring a trick-or-treat bag to hold your goodies!
