Aspect Practice is offering a number of different programs for parents and carers of children with autism spectrum disorder. These programs include a series of Early Days workshops, which are part of the Helping Children With Autism package and provide free support and information to families and carers

who have children with (or who may have) autism spectrum disorder between the ages of 0-7 Years.

Aspect Practice Recipe For Success, Bathurst
26–27 February 2018, 9.30am–4.30pm

Aspect’s Positive Behaviour Workshops have been designed using contemporary evidence-based strategies by Aspect’s Positive Behaviour Support Team as part of their direct work with families, organisations and people living with autism.

Workshop content includes:

  • Step by step, easy to complete forms to help every participant write their own autism-specific Positive Behaviour Support plan on the day
  • Forms and other tools to take home for future use
  • Access to a broad range of resources including fact sheets, videos, recommended readings, published research documents and more, provided at the end of the workshop (via DVD or url)

Who should attend: Families and Carers who are looking after an individual on the autism spectrum in a home environment. Due to funding conditions, this workshop cannot accept professionals.

Early Days My Child & Autism, Broken Hill

In this workshop you will:

  • Gain an understanding of Autism Spectrum: Identifying the characteristics of autism and helping you to understand how it may be affecting your child in everyday life
  • Make the Difference: Identifying ways you can promote your child’s learning and development at home
  • Discuss what Early Intervention is and how to get the most out of it, including looking at the evidence and decision making process.

All attendees will also receive a range of resources.

Early Days Understanding Behaviour, Broken Hill

In this workshop you will: 

  • Identify and describe a behaviour creating a clear description of a behaviour and examining what happens before and after the behaviour
  • Understand the function of a behaviour using the data that has been gathered to identify what the child is communicating through their behaviour
  • Plan for intervention and how to make environmental changes to support the child, finding realistic replacement behaviours and how to reward appropriate replacement behaviours

All attendees will also receive a range of resources.
