Are you great at organising and note taking? Are you passionate about advocating to make the digital world more accessible to all? This is a great opportunity to volunteer with an organisation that advocates for people with all forms of disabilities, for older persons and for other groups who face challenges in the digital transformation of our society.

The organisation advocates for legislation compliance­-based standards and other systemic measures in support of the accessibility of digital products and service. Their work includes:

  • advocating for the adoption of the Accessible ICT Procurement Standard and campaigning for its broadest implementation across all levels of government and business;
  • campaigning for accessible banking services;
  • researching the potential for adopting an accessible medical diagnostic product standard;
  • and researching the development of standards for touch screen technologies.

The main role of the Virtual Secretary includes participating in meetings and taking minutes. Meetings are held via Skype. The Secretary will also assist in preparing the required reports and forms to meet reporting obligations.

Meetings (via Skype) will be held once a month, or as required depending on the level of activity. Most of the work can be done by email, phone or Skype, however occasional face-to-face meetings may be required.

The Secretary will also provide support to the Directors, who have vision impairment, especially in regards to the lack of accessibility of many official documents and processes.

Other skills and requirements:

  • Time management
  • Administrative skills, including minute taking
  • Knowledge of Skype or willingness to learn
  • Intermediate computer skills– email, internet, Word


  • Experience working with disability or older people
  • Secretarial experience
