Would you like to help a young person to develop a positive sense of self and essential life skills? An opportunity is available for a female volunteer to mentor a young person living in residential care, enjoying time swimming, shopping and/or knitting together.

The role is suitable for a female over the age of 25 years. This is an identified post suited to an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander person (not essential).

In this role you will mentor a young person living in residential care once a week after school hours or at weekends for 2 to 3 hours.

Mentors engage in regular recreational activities with individual young people to facilitate the development of positive social engagement through a shared passion for the following interests: knitting, swimming, animals and shopping.

You will receive expert training and advice on developing a positive mentor/mentee relationship. You will also have the ongoing support of Youth/Case workers as well as further training opportunities.
