Elderly woman doing a puzzle with a younger woman

Social Support volunteering is a great way to gift your time to help vulnerable community members to have a more active and safe social life. Opportunities to be a Social Support volunteer are now available in Mt Druitt. Social support volunteers accompany frail aged clients on social outings, help them to get to and from appointments, and help with their shopping once a fortnight. They might go on a coffee outing with the client or perhaps to the movies.

Essential requirements

  • It is essential that Social Support volunteers have their own insured car, in good working order.
  • Must live close to Mt Druitt or Rooty Hill.
  • Must be friendly and reliable.

Desirable but not essential

  • Flexibility in being able to assist as a bus helper when the bus helper volunteer is sick or on holidays (Mondays).

Mileage/fuel is reimbursed.

Minimum commitment: 3 hours per fortnight. Weekdays and weekends are an option.

This role would suit volunteers who are working or studying during the week and are looking for a weekend option or over 55s seeking Centrelink-approved hours.
