Are you passionate about healthy eating for kids? Would you be willing to volunteer a small amount of time each month to present to groups of parents about the long-term benefits of eating fruit and vegetables? Cancer Council NSW is looking for a Volunteer Program Facilitator for the Eat It To Beat It program.

The program runs free healthy eating sessions and workshops for parents of primary school age children, helping them to understand why fruit and vegetables are so important.

Cancer Council NSW is seeking enthusiastic and confident volunteers with an interest in nutrition to facilitate sessions in the Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Far West communities. As part of the role, you will be required to complete a half day training session and a Working with Children check.

As part of the team you will:

  • Help families and children reduce their risk of cancer and maintain good health
  • Volunteer within a flexible role, to fit around your other commitments
  • Meet a team of fantastic staff and volunteers, all dedicated to beating cancer
  • Have access to Cancer Council NSW benefits, including a 15% discount at Cancer Council retail stores across NSW, exclusive health insurance benefits and much more.

The ideal volunteer will have:

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Experience in presenting and/or facilitating sessions to audiences of various sizes
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to keep accurate records
  • An interest in food and nutrition (you do not need to be an expert as full training will be provided)
  • The time and commitment to deliver multiple sessions and workshops throughout the school year
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence and access to a personal registered vehicle. (Note: Cancer Council NSW does not insure personal vehicles or cover the cost of damage caused during an accident. It is preferable that you have access to a comprehensively insured vehicle).
  • Completed a Working with Children check or be willing to complete one

Training: Training will be held in Dubbo on 6 September 2017.
