Are you a financial whiz who loves working with people with the aim of making a difference in their lives? Volunteer with a community service organisation that delivers a range of financial and social welfare programs. The Volunteer Financial Welfare Officer will help financially disadvantaged clients access programs like No-Interest Loans, Emergency Relief, Tax Help or Financial Counselling.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting face-to-face interviews with people on a low income and preparing documents for No-Interest Loans.
  • During the interview, working loosely with applicants to prepare their Income and Expenditure Statement for assessment.
  • Completing a detailed written report for the Assessment Panel including relevant information discussed in the interview. This is an important part of the application, as extra supportive information can be crucial for approval
  • Collecting and compiling appropriate paperwork for submission to the Assessment Panel.
  • Data entry and other administration duties as required to process and manage the No-Interest Loan Scheme database.

Opportunities are available in Baulkham Hills and Richmond.

Other skills/requirements

  • Previous financial administration experience is preferred with an eye for detail
  • Empathy towards financially disadvantaged people
  • Basic computer skills
  • Willing to commit to at least 12 months' volunteering

Minimum commitment: 12 months, hours flexible
