Hands with coloured paint on them held up in air

Refugees can face challenges accessing health care because of the complexity of our health system, and due to transport and language difficulties. Health Navigation Volunteers will assist and mentor newly arrived refugees, helping them to navigate the health care and transport systems.

This will enable them to successfully attend their health appointments, in particular appointments at hospitals, with specialists, at dental clinics, women’s health centres and with other health practitioners.

Initially this new program will assist refugees living in South Western Sydney where the majority of new arrivals are settling. Volunteers’ travel expenses to health appointments will be reimbursed.
