The Bennelong Foundation aims to enhance community wellbeing and provide opportunities for positive and lasting change in our community. Applications are now open for the foundation’s October 2017 grant round. The foundation’s grants are offered in seven key areas of focus. Current priority focus areas are education, training and employment; community health; and migrant and indigenous community welfare.

Non-current focus areas:

  • Crisis support
  • Youth at risk
  • Medical research
  • International aid and assistance

The foundation strives to support causes, organisations and projects that possess the following principles and/or criteria:

  • Innovation and proactivity
  • Change not charity
  • Project-based and goal-oriented
  • Partnerships
  • Low government or institutional support

The following exclusions apply: 

  • Areas considered a direct responsibility of governments.
  • General fundraising projects or appeals.
  • Travel, study or conferences (unless incidental to a project being funded).
  • Individuals.
  • Other foundations, trusts and philanthropic organisations to fund their general objectives.
  • General maintenance or overhead expenses (unless part of a specific project).
  • Applications with a religious, political or sectarian purpose.
  • Funding deficiencies.
