Boy crying

Vulnerable children and young adults continue to fall behind, according to the Australian Child Rights Taskforce. UNICEF Australia conducted a national consultation with 527 disadvantaged children and young people under 24. Their report to the the UN found that they 'faced growing intergenerational inequality'.

Those interviewed were generally from lower socio-economic, rural and remote backgrounds. Numerous quotes, drawings and handwritten notes from interviewees are included. These, along with comprehensive statistics, support the findings that Government policies and programs have failed to respond to decades of disadvantage for marginalised children in Australia. The report contains 190 recommendations and can be downloaded here: The Children's Report
