Of the 1.85 million jobs created from 2008 - 2018, 885,000 are part time. While this can suit mothers and older workers, younger workers in particular are being forced to take casual and low paid positions.

Flexible and casualised work conditions are advantageous to employers and those employees who want more time to do other things. New mothers easing back into the workforce and older workers easing out can benefit from work arrangements that are not full-time.  But for those wanting to impress a bank manager the future of work does not look so attractive. The ABC reports that many workers are expected to perform 'above and beyond' or they will find themselves without shifts.
