Cancer Council NSW Western Region office has one fully funded vehicle based in Dubbo which provides free transport for cancer patients and their carers to and from treatment at the Alan Coates Cancer Centre at Dubbo Base Hospital and cancer-related appointments in the Dubbo CBD.

This program aims to assist those people in greatest need in the Western NSW community affected by cancer.

Trained volunteer drivers provide transport to and from cancer treatment and cancer-related appointments at Dubbo Base Hospital and within the Dubbo CBD.

The service operates between communities falling within a 200km or 2 hour radius of Dubbo CBD between the hours of 7.30am-6.00pm.

This service can only be accessed if there are no other feasible transport options available at the time of booking (to ensure that Cancer Council is not duplicating existing transport services). Please ensure local community transport has been contacted as a first option if this is viable for the patient.

Patients and carers can only access this service through a written referral from a social worker, cancer care coordinator or community nurse (or relevant health professional).
