Shelter NSW is pleased to roll out their revised housing training course across the state. Jon Eastgate of 99 Consulting will present the training, along with Shelter NSW staff.

This is an introductory training course for workers who work in housing service delivery, policy or planning, or who come into contact with any section of the NSW housing system. It explores the various tenures of housing including, social and affordable housing, private rental and home ownership, and explores how all elements of the housing system piece together. It also discusses the impacts and causes of homelessness and how services in NSW respond to this.

The course will enable participants to understand key concepts used in housing policy debates and identify key policy challenges related to housing here in NSW. It explores the issue of housing affordability and introduces participants to the debates around approaches to government service delivery, sustainability and financing of social housing and assistance to home owners and private renters.

Who should attend: Community sector workers and advocates, non-profit housing accommodation and tenancy services, local government workers, local government, policy makers – and anyone else with an interest in housing. There are a maximum of 20 participants – places will be filled on a first come first served basis.
