digital mentor with client

NSW SLASA is inviting community members to be part of a dynamic team of Volunteers Digital Mentors to provide digital technology training to Seniors of CALD background. NSW SLASA is a Network Partner of Good Things Foundation in the delivery of the Be Connected program. Be Connected is an Australian government initiative and a national movement working across Australia with communities to help Seniors with their digital skills. Be Connected is committed to increase the knowledge, skills and online safety for all older Australians and it aims to empower everyone to use the internet and everyday technology to thrive in the digital world.

Through the Be Connected program Seniors Australians will be able to learn the basics of how to use all different types of digital devices and how to engage with the internet in a safe way, including:

  • The absolute basics
  • Getting to know your device
  • Getting started online
  • Safety first
  • More skills online
  • Connecting to others
  • What is data?

In the coming months NSW SLASA will begin to deliver small size classes and one-one training for Seniors of CALD background. Training will be provided for the Volunteers Digital Mentors.

Part of the service with Volunteer Digital Mentors is to travel around the Sydney Metropolitan area with the “Mobile Techno club” to help Seniors of CALD background to learn digital technology.
