Sailability Dobroyd sails from Rodd Point, every second Sunday from September to May. They cater for people with disabilities and their families and have a friendly and caring atmosphere. They operate in a safe environment and sail in specially designed, stable and unsinkable Hansa dinghies. Sailability is entirely run by volunteers.

They need volunteers to do the things that disabled members cannot do by themselves. They value any time that you can give and we hope that your experiences with them give you something valuable in return.

Things you can do:

  • Rig and launch the boats
  • Fit safety jackets
  • Help members in and out of boats
  • Fit slings and operate the hoist
  • Help members to sail to the best of their ability. Training is provided.
  • Drive or crew the support boat. Training is provided.
  • Sign up new members and sign on volunteers
  • Schedule the crews of the dinghies and the support boat
  • Run the BBQ and organise the provisions
  • And last, but not least, socialise and have fun!
