As a Compeer volunteer, you will be matched to a person who has a diagnosed mental illness to enjoy social activities with. All contact will occur in public settings, with no home visitations. Activities may include enjoying a coffee and chat together, going to a sporting event, having lunch, seeing a movie, or going to a Compeer Social event.

Activities are typically one hour a week, and are flexible according to the volunteer.

The Compeer model is based on the premise that people need other people in their lives to develop and maintain good mental health and well-being. In this way, the Compeer friendship program is mutually beneficial.
