Patient during consultation

The Orange District Early Education Program has announced the opening of a brand new centre in the Central West, that will offer assessment, diagnosis and evaluation of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Previously, families would have to travel to Sydney for assessments, which could involve multi-day trips, hotel expenses and unneeded stress.

The service will operate from The Orange District Early Education Program in Yarrowong Place, and Wholechild in Moulder Street in Orange.

The centre has already received 10 referrals, without even opening its doors yet.

In some centres in NSW, waiting lists can take up to 12 months to see a paediatrician and 6 months for people seeking assessments for neurodevelopmental disorders.

It is hoped that the new centre will help alleviate stress on families, as well as enabling greater access to health services for those in the Central West.
